Sleep lab facility launched at Moolchand

A new sleep lab has been launched at Moolchand to treat sleep related disorders.  The sleep lab facility equipped with additional sensors, hardware and software to carry out cardiovascular studies has been designed to evaluate, diagnose, treat and help patients manage obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).  As the study of such disorders requires getting people to go to sleep, the sleep lab has been designed as a comfortable place to sleep in addition to being a scientific facility.

Symptoms like insomnia (not getting sleep), excessive sleep, daytime sleepiness, resistant high blood pressure, resistant heart failure, low oxygen saturation, obesity, right heart failure, snoring, OSA, unexplained chocking, etc. are the few indicators for treatment at a sleep lab.

About Sleep Lab
A sleep lab facility is also called whole night complete polysomnographybody.  The machine is a combination of ECG, EEG, EMG etc. and measures heart rate, oxygen saturation, brain waves, heart waves, snoring etc. in person who is made to sleep in the sleep lab.  The test requires an overnight stay in the sleep lab and rules out presence or absence of snoring, presence or absence of cessation of respiration during sleep called Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), dangerous irregularities of heart during sleep, abnormal sleeping patterns, abnormal sleep efficiency, disturbances of sleep walking, abnormal leg movements during sleep, patients with non-responsive high blood pressure, resistant heart failure patients and chances of sudden death in heart patients.

Services available are: Portable sleep lab and Full sleep lab study.  The test can either be done in the night for sleep disorders or in the day for evaluation of daytime sleepiness.  If found abnormal, the test is repeated using a C-PAP machine.
