About me
I am Dr. Anil Bhan, a Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon dedicated to advancing heart care for over three decades. A Gold Medalist from Medical College, Srinagar, I have performed 15,000+ successful cardiac and vascular procedures and hold the largest experience in aortic surgery in India. I have designed and developed over 50 surgical instruments that are used globally and was privileged to be part of the team that performed India’s first successful heart transplant in 1994. I have also played a pivotal role in establishing leading cardiac surgical programs at Puttaparthi (1992), Whitefield (2001), and Max Heart and Vascular Institute, Saket (2004). My passion is delivering excellence in complex aortic surgeries, heart transplants, valve repairs, advanced vascular procedures and I am honored to bring this expertise to Moolchand to help set new benchmarks in cardiac care.

My publications and papers
- Published one of the earliest reports on angiographic follow-up of OPCAB (Beating Heart CABG) from India. Accredited by Medtronics(U.S.).(Annals of Thoracic Surgery.-2000
- Published third report in the world literature on Radial artery angiographic follow up. (Annals Thoracic Surgery.1999;67(6):1631–1636)
- Published the data on adenosine preconditioning of the Myocardium in patients with ventricular dysfunction undergoing myocardial revascularisation.(Eur. J of Cardiothoracic Surgery. 2001
- Used for the first time Harmonic scalpel for the harvest of Radial and Internal mammary Artery conduits in India. (Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals. March, 7
- Described a new – operative technique for repair of supracardiac total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage. (Published in Annals of thoracic surgery- USA)
- Described a new operative technique for coarctation of aortic with type – B aortic dissection(Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery USA)

- Delivered the prestigious P.K. Sen Oration at the CT Conference - 2009
- Performed the youngest bypass in world literature with coronary aneurysm repair at the age of 18 months - 2007
- Did the first extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in India - 2000
